Elizabeth Bame graduated from Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, MI with an Associate Degree in Commercial Art in 1985, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1989. Her career in graphic design brought her to Atlanta, GA in 1990, when she accepted the position of Art Director for Soundview Publications, where she has been employed for the last sixteen years. Several years after moving to Atlanta, her love of painting and drawing was renewed when she started her studies with artist Chris DiDomizio at DiDomizio Old World Art Studio, where she continued for nine years. Many of the subjects she paints were inspired from her trips to Europe, as well as the USA. She has exhibited widely and won numerous awards, including acceptance into the Red Cinder Artist-in-Residence program in 2003.
“With each painting, my ultimate goal is not merely the composition of an attractive scene, but the creation of a moment. And that moment is not an instant or a second. That moment should linger and breathe deeply. If I can take that moment and make it last forever … if I can somehow recreate that perfect experience of peace … then I believe I've been successful,” says Elizabeth. Working and living in a large metropolitan area leaves little breathing room, it seems, and she is constantly in search of those rare moments of quiet contentment, for herself, and for anyone who stops to contemplate a scene she’s created.
In the Atlanta area, Elizabeth’s artwork can be viewed at various juried shows and exhibits throughout the year.
